About Us
We are an action-based 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in East Tennessee. We are dedicated to making our outdoor spaces and public lands a better place to recreate and making our communities a better place to live. We do this by leading through example, something we call ‘Education Through Action’.
We believe the best way to teach folks how to be good stewards is by showing them what a good steward looks like. We do this by exercising the Responsible Stewardship Ethics.
These RS Ethics help us understand our impact (both physically and digitally) on the environment around us and guide us in lessening both our impact and the impact of others.
The RS Ethics encourage us to ‘take action’ when we see a need. Whether you’re packing out litter you find on a trail, volunteering with a park or stewardship organization, advocating for the better care and treatment of public lands or donating to stewardship organizations or trail conservancies, you are making an instant positive impact on the environment around you.
The core value of Responsible Stewardship is also our most important ethic - INTEGRITY! We strive to embody all of the other RS ethics, even when no one is watching.
